Or maybe not. I may or may not have purchased some books. And not just from the used bookstore. I might have bought some NEW books.
Ok, who am I really kidding? I did buy some new books. I finally gave in to temptation and bought Mallory Ortberg’s Texts From Jane Eyre, Deanna Raybourn’s Silent in the Grave, and Tiffany Reisz’s The Siren.
Why did I give in? In part, curiosity, but really it was flat out booklust.
Also, I think Deanna Raybourn is an awesome person based on our Twitter interactions, and I was feeling rather guilty for not having read any of her books before. So, once I had the second, third, and fourth books of the Lady Julia Grey series from the used bookstore, I went ahead and dove in for the first so I could begin read her work. I have not been disappointed. Expect a quasi-review very soon (by quasi, I simply mean very biased, because I am loving it, and Lady Julia Grey just might be my spirit animal).
Also, Tiffany Reisz is brilliant and hilarious on Twitter, and I am curious about The Siren. Of course, I gave in and bought Texts from Jane Eyre because I am a British literature lover (please see my Twitter header photo) and couldn’t wait to get my hands on Ortberg’s book. There is a very real possibility I hugged it when it arrived.
BUT. There is still victory in this…I went TWO WHOLE MONTHS without buying any new books! So, I’ve learned I am capable of showing restraint, and I plan to continue to do so going forward. After all, now I have more books to read.
Cheers! Thank you for following along on this journey 🙂
You book whore you.
And fairly proud of it!
The real question is if you’re binge-reading them?
I wish!
