Pride and Prejudice meets Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot in this humorous and heartfelt debut about a loving, quirky family on the hunt for the mythical Sasquatch.
Hunting for monsters was never so awkward.
It’s bad enough that Samantha’s parents, charter members of the Northern Ohio Bigfoot Society, have dragged their daughter around forever, hunting for yetis. But now they’re doing it on national TV, and worse, in front of an aristocratic prep-school crew including a boy who disdains Samantha’s family.
But when he scorns her humble Ohio roots, she becomes determined to take him down. As they go to war, their friction and attraction almost distract them from the hint that Sasquatch may actually be out there somewhere…

And here’s the guest post the authors wrote for my blog!
How (on earth) did you come up with the idea of a Sasquatch/Pride and Prejudice mashup?
It’s a good question. It is a little out of the box, unless your box includes some mythical creatures and a few volumes of British literature. …
We had been watching a lot of reality television and B-grade movies about cryptozoology and just loved the idea of using a monster hunting show as a setting. We enjoyed the way the Bigfoot hunters were so passionate and so convinced that something was out there. Plus, they were so fond of Sasquatch, like he was a long-lost cousin coming to tea and not a wild beast.
Then we started thinking about what types of characters would live in the world, and how they would each feel about Sasquatch. Would they be believers or skeptics? What would they be willing to do to win a competition to find Bigfoot? The world of ‘Squatching just offered so many opportunities for humor, heart, and interesting situations that would raise the stakes in our story.
We don’t remember exactly how we came up with the idea of retelling Pride and Prejudice within this setting. There may have been wine and a whole lot of giggling, but before we knew it, the story came together surprisingly well. It probably helped that Samantha’s family is just as mortifiying as Elizabeth Bennet’s, if not more so.
Let’s just say it’s a truth universally acknowledged that a teenager never ever wants to be humiliated on national television in front of a cute boy.
